Sugar Landscape

The back room on the second floor is dominated by the sugar landscape Am Rhein (by the rhine). The object consists of four zinc tubs filled with coloured sugar. While the sugar mass was still liquid Roth embedded various toys and little figurines in it. Between the two doorways leading to the front part of the second floor various garden gnomes in chocolate coating are displayed on a glass shelf. In a back corner a photo documents the Große Landschaft mit Turm (great landscape with tower) which stood in its place before being removed to the Dieter Roth Foundation Museum. Dieter Roth intended to keep working on that photo until his sudden death put an end to that ambition.
