Lion Tower And Coquille Gnomes

The Coquillenzwerge (coquille gnomes) develop the single garden gnomes being moulded in chocolate from 1968/69 further into an entire sculptural block. Only the top of their caps peek out on one side.

In Löwenturm (lion tower) Roth reused the material left over from not finishing the chocolate edition Löwenselbst (lion self) from 1969. On the wall to the left he displayed six Obstfenster (fruit windows): wooden frames holding double glazing. Between both glass panes the artist inserted one variety of fruit in each window. The fruit rotted and left visible mouldy marks on the frames as well as traces of decay on the glass.
